I apologise for the awful pun in the subject title, but I don't know what came over me then. As the actress said to the bishop DEAR GOD SOMEONE SHUT ME UP. But yes, I have finished my 50 sentences for [livejournal.com profile] 1sentence, written about the relationship between The Edge and Adam Clayton. I would honestly like some feedback from these even if you're not aware of the fandom. Generally, if you're comfortable with RPS/bandom, you'll be cool with these.

Adam can’t help but notice the gold band around Edge’s finger; the way that his eyes light up when he talks about Morleigh.

They both idolise and adore the man who enthrals the audience at every show, but they can’t have him – who needs Bono when Adam and Edge can have each other?

He would often think back to the day in Larry’s kitchen when their gazes first met and Adam asked the room what this ‘band’, for want of a better word, should call themselves.

Adam couldn’t play at any venue where he couldn’t fit all of his amps on to the stage – this one, a dive in Dublin, was the worst offender.

“No matter how bad the situation gets at home,” Adam says with tears in his eyes, “you can’t run away from the band; you can’t run away from me.”

Adam would always remain an oasis of calm, even through the most horrific and destructive of storms.

Adam knew that Edge was an angel, but in the past few months, he’d proved himself right yet again.

Adam and Edge huddled together for warmth in the freezing Slane Castle bedroom – but they weren’t exactly complaining about it.

When Edge told Adam that he looked amazing on the first night of Zoo TV, he went a rather fetching shade of scarlet.

A shared bottle of champagne after the show was a regular treat for the two of them, but sadly, someone had nicked it from the rider that evening.

No matter how much Adam begged him, Edge wouldn’t have a midnight feast with him.

There was no way that Edge could turn Adam down tonight – he was just too good at this seduction thing.

With the lights of New York sparkling beneath him and Adam sleeping contentedly in the adjacent seat, Edge realised how lucky he really was.

Lifeblood, love, common ground, the art they cannot live without.

“Are you sure these sheets aren’t too opulent?”

Edge will always prefer their version of ‘Helter Skelter’ to the original, no matter how terrible that makes him feel.

“All right, we’ll keep the boom-chas.”

Adam knew he shouldn’t have had that cheese so late in the evening – nevertheless, ‘the one with the giant spiders’ was entertaining, if slightly disturbing.

He thought it lent a certain ambience to the room, but Edge insisted that it smelled like the inside of a minicab.

At a certain moment in every show, Adam would look over at Edge as he concentrates on the opening riff to ‘Where The Streets Have No Name’, knowing that he has many more talents that only Adam knows about.

Their lives were eerie without noise, but there was a certain comfort that came with the sight of a calm, sleeping Edge.

Looking at a picture of Edge as an awkward eighteen-year-old, Adam realised just how far they’d come since then.

Adam knows who he would save from a burning building.

Internally and externally, Adam knew that Edge would always be stronger than him; always be there to keep him safe.

What is he hiding under that cool, organised exterior – if anything?

In his darker moments, Edge felt like his heart could melt or shatter incredibly easily.

If anyone took Adam away, Edge thinks, who would be there to catch Edge if he fell?

Edge had the ability to forgive and forget where Adam was concerned; even his most embarrassing moments could be erased from his memory.

If there was one thing that Adam had learned that year, it was that he could not, under any circumstances, dance in a suit.

Like a fine wine, Edge observed, Adam definitely improved with age.

Religion was the only thing that Edge couldn’t discuss with the normally open-minded Adam.

Even after they had said goodbye and promised to call each other, a weekend away still felt like an eternity.

Edge’s camera documents every step of the tour, while Adam sticks drawing pins into a map, marking the places they’d been together.

“I don’t care how good you say it will look on me, I’m not going to wear those shoes.”

Adam touches Edge’s forehead and sighs, hoping that this – whatever it is – isn’t contagious.

Before they started filming Rattle and Hum, Edge didn’t realise that Adam had such a gift for comedy.

Telling Adam that their relationship would always be kept a secret may not have been the truth, but it was necessary at the time.

Watching the sun go down on the horizon was something that comforted Edge and Adam – there truly was no line on it.

Edge couldn’t help but feel powerless when he felt Adam’s full strength against him for the first time.

“What happens in the lemon,” Edge says into Adam’s ear, “stays there.”

They had to think of the fans when they realised it had been five years since the release of their last album.

If there was one thing that Adam enjoyed more than the sex, it was the banter.

“So the pick was in your shoe all along.”

Ever optimistic, Edge knew that this was going to be the best album they’d ever made.

When they watched the eclipse in the grounds of Slane Castle, Adam squeezed Edge’s hand and told him that he wanted this night to last forever.

They knew that what came up must also come down, as it were.

The roads were too wide; Edge wondered whether there was almost too much freedom, as they drove across America.
The truth of Edge’s home life was always a mystery to Adam – he had caught glimpses, but never witnessed it in full.

Nobody would be able to barge into the dressing room that night: Adam and Edge had some “important business” to attend to.

Adam’s rhythmic breathing reassured Edge as he lay awake in the darkness.

Just a quick note: you should probably unfriendslock this if you've linked to it from [livejournal.com profile] 1sentence. (I may read these and offer feedback later. Or I may not! YOU JUST DON'T KNOW.)

(EDIT: I'm sorry, I feel that may have been a bit rude. I'm just tired. I'll probably look at these sentences tomorrow, but I may have nothing to say, because, let's face it, I know nothing about U2.

If you don't want to unfriendslock these in your journal, I suppose you could paste them into your [livejournal.com profile] 1sentence post.)

(EDIT AGAIN: Also, that title pun is wonderfully dreadful. And I love that you left a message on my phone just to let me hear a terrible Death Note pun, but there was a lot of background noise and I couldn't make out the punchline! Could you tell me the joke here?)

This entry has now been unfriendslocked - I have realised the error of my ways.

And basically, the joke is this: Misa is having Spanish lessons and Light is very jealous, because he thinks he *should* be the one learning it. Misa asks his dad what he thinks of this decision and he says this -
"Now now, let's not make Light of the sí tuition."

...Yeah, I was bored yesterday. xD

Aw thanks! I meant to tell you one thing I really love about these sentences (beyond their elegant construction) is how you encapsulate all this characterization into them in so few words. They're seemingly plucked almost at random from a greater whole and actually give really clear glimpses into that whole... which is amazing for being just one sentence each that you made up!
